Meet the Montgomerys

This second book I’m working on has seen an evolution since 2020. It was the third book I ever wrote, and since its first draft, Wisteria Drive has seen many changes. But one thing that has always stayed consistent is the main characters, who are collectively the driving force of this domestic thriller novel.

Wisteria Drive centers itself around the rich and affluent Montgomery family. The Montgomerys are known for sharing similar characteristics. For example, their sons are born to Lily and Richard Montgomery and all have the same dark curls and unstressed, confident appearances. Their wives are all visibly echoes of Lily. They all have red hair—both natural and artificial. These women also have tanned skin and come from poor upbringings. Though there are many similarities that tie these individual characters together, they each bring a unique flavor to the story. Check out the character list below for specifics:

  • Amy – Amy is our main character and our protagonist, and we navigate life on Wisteria Drive through her eyes. She is happily married to David Montgomery, the third son of the Montgomery family. She is also the proud mother of Ryder, who she desperately wants to protect.
  • David – With an eye for fashion and aesthetics, David longs for a fulfilling, creative career that he will not attain on Wisteria Drive. In his defense, the pressure to remain near his family is enough to drive anyone to do some crazy things…
  • Ryder – Ryder is the six-year-old son of Amy and David Montgomery. He is learning how to make new friends and discovering the consequences of choosing the wrong ones.
  • Tiffany – Anyone can see how happy Tiffany is to be married to the eldest Montgomery son, Jason. She is proud to have married into the Montgomery family and will do anything to keep the peace.
  • Jason – Jason is the epitome of what it means to be a man; at least, according to his father. He was raised to take whatever he wanted and not let it go, no matter the cost.
  • Braxton – Born to Tiffany and Jason, Braxton is quick to listen to his father. He internalizes everything, for better or worse.
  • Miranda – Miranda shrouds herself in her faith. Within it, she finds no shame, unlike every other aspect of her life, which is filled with guilt and shortcomings she can’t seem to shake.
  • Matt – He is an absent parent even when he is in the house. Matt will go through the motions, do what he is told, and struggle to find enjoyment in any of it.
  • Kayleigh – The sweet, docile, and incredibly quiet daughter of Miranda and Matt learns shame early in her life. Though she has never done anything outwardly wrong, the Montgomerys look down on her, given that she has already made the grievous mistake of even being born.
  • Tyler – The youngest Montgomery brother finds comfort in his marriage to his wife, Jenn. He may not be the brightest of the brothers, but he makes up for it by being there for his family… to a fault.
  • Jenn – Jenn quickly becomes Amy’s ally on Wisteria Drive. This fun-loving, sun-bathing bombshell is perhaps the only person Amy can trust in the whole cul de sac…
  • Lily – Lily is the proud matriarch of the family. She enjoys displaying her wealth on her knuckles, wrists, and throat while hiding her secrets in dark corners to protect the family.
  • Richard – He will have the perfect family at any cost.

The Montgomerys are a cast of characters who all take the developing realization of a sketchy past differently. As we learn the secrets that are hidden in the very foundation of Wisteria Drive, we will see what extent the Montgomerys will go to in order to protect the image of the ideal American family.
